Welcome to Monstrously Helpful, a take on using the most dastardly villains and dreadful monsters to create positive experiences for everyone involved. The Faerie Dragon is a small and mischievous draconic creature known for its love of tricks and mischief. Like many other dragons, the Faerie Dragon is often focused on a particular set of goals and pays little heed to potential obstacles it encounters. This common personality trait is particularly apparent in the avaricious and vicious actions of evil-aligned dragons, but is also demonstrated in good-aligned dragons who can appear self-important and stuck up due to the single-minded focus towards their potentially noble goals. As a result, they may ignore or disrespect the experiences and opinions of others.

Superior Invisibility. As a bonus action, the dragon can magically turn invisible until its concentration ends as if concentrating on a spell. Any equipment the dragon wears or carries is invisible with it. Limited Telepathy. Using telepathy, the dragon can magically communicate with any other faerie dragon within 60 feet of it. Magic Resistance. The dragon has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Innate Spellcasting. It can innately cast a of spells, requiring no material components. As the dragon ages and changes color, it gains additional spells as shown below. Hit: 1 piercing damage. Euphoria Breath Recharge 5—6.

Monstrously helpful: the faerie dragon

The dragon exhales a puff of euphoria gas at one creature within 5 feet of it. The target takes no action or bonus action and uses all of its movement to move in a random direction. A faerie dragon is a cat-sized dragon with butterfly wings.

It wears a sharp-toothed grin and expresses its delight by the twitching of its tail, its merriment fading only if it is attacked. Invisible Tricksters. The dragon stays out of sight, watching invisibly as its victims contend with its pranks.

Faerie dragon

Friendly and Bright. A faerie dragon has a sharp mind, a fondness for treasure and good company, and a puckish sense of humor. The Colors of Age. All faerie dragons have innate spellcasting ability, gaining new spells as they mature. The creature card would seem to infer that an Older Faerie Dragon doens have the spells of the red, orange, and yellow Younger Faerie Dragon, spells it learned as it got older.

Just a suggestion that those spells should be added as already known if the idea to separate the two stat blocks is what's wanted. This stat block and the associated stat block needs to be combined to provide a complete stat block.

Faerie dragon (older)

The color of the faerie dragon deates which spells it can cast, so a Green one could cast the spells for Green, Yellow, Orange, and Red. Mods, it's been almost a year since this was posted, can we get this information incorporated into the Older Faerie Dragon stat block? I think clarifying that it goes through the rainbow color spectrum would be helpful as well.

The language needs to be tightened up a bit.

Deleted it now that it has been updated by a helpful mod! I am surprised this was opened up to me, a user without any source book featuring this creature. My wife has a Faerie Dragon younger as a pet. She has gotten used to using the Euphoria Breath to render most beasts they come up against My question is, what kind of effect is this?

I have searched the internet looking for something to indicate but there's nothing. I want to cater the encounters moving forward to try to balance this effect. Would just "magic resistance" cover this, or would it need to be more specific to aiding the wisdom saving throw?

Faerie dragon (5e race)

The main strengths of this tiny dragon are innate magical abilities to confuse and bewilder, a highly developed intelligence, good social skills, exceptional agility, and a remarkable cuteness. Faerie dragon is roughly the size of a butterfly or a dragonfly. Because of its size, the faerie dragons rarely fight alone and quick call upon allies when in trouble.

Particularly, this dragon can exhale a cone of euphoria gas which temporarily paralyzes the opponents.

The Euphoria Gas is its way of getting you really stoned and gives it a good giggle. Hey Bandit91!

Its a breath weapon like the other Dragons have. My Sorlock uses his to cast Dragons Breath thru. In that case its not just OP but RO really obnoxious.

Older Faerie dragons speak draconic and syvlan. They can only telepathically communicate with other faerie dragons.

So why do they have the Suggestion spell? It requires their target to hear and understand it. Is it regularly casting suggestion on fey or other dragons, or does it hope its victims just happen to be well versed in its own lingo ergo identifying its targets may be smarter than it?

This variant of the more wild counterparts have settled among the races of the world, studying and learning their ways.

The mischievous faerie dragons came from a branch of the dragon family tree , [3] closely related to pseudodragons.
